English Antique Mahogany Lowboy Desk Overview
This gorgeous mahogany lowboy desk was crafted in England around 1940. Today, the mahogany retains a deep, lustrous complexion and a highly pronounced grain, both of which have grown more beautiful over the years with the development of a lovely patina. Together with the rich mahogany, the gold-tooled brown leather (a recent addition) looks fantastic, while beautiful brass backplates and swan neck pulls contrast beautifully with the wood. The four, sturdy cabriole legs end in elegant ball-and-claw feet. Although this desk remains quite beautiful and sturdy, it has sustained some minor wear, including various scratches, dents, and superficial separations in the wood (namely on the skirt and legs). Overall condition therefore remains very good.
